Making art in all forms has been something I have done for as long as I can remember. I went to college for art and I teach high school Visual Arts in Colorado. Many of you are wondering how this all started, so here goes. I was inspired by a bag of scrap leather that I asked my dad to buy when I was living in North Carolina and he was visiting. I didn't bring my wallet into the store and my dad thought I was crazy for buying a bag of leather. I told him I was going to make earrings; he gave me the strangest look while my mom said, "Just buy the leather."
After starting off simple with a single leather cut shape and a bead, I have developed my own style that is primarily motivated by the great outdoors. Designs by Candacie pairs the right amount of sustainability with a fresh take on lightweight earrings. My designs include a combination of genuine leather that has been handcut, metals, recycled cans, ceramic clay, and beads. Some designs include hand painted details while others are a minimalist style design with colorful layers. My earrings, bolo ties, hats and wall art are versatile and for all ages.
